After Tunis in 2008 and Bamako in 2010, it is now the turn of South Africa to host the Danse l’Afrique danse ! biennial.

This year, this major event supported by the Institut Français is being organised in the context of the French Season in South Africa. The event highlights the work carried out by Afrique en  créations which, for over twenty years, has allowed for the development and structuring of a whole industry, establishing it within international distribution channels. It is with great pride that  we are supporting the continuation of the Danse l’Afrique danse ! adventure, forged today in a renewed context, valorising creation from the Southern countries.

The pan-African dimension, intended from the outset of the biennial, takes on special significance in South Africa, which becomes the focal point of dance from across the continent. 15 countries  are represented and 44 shows proposed, providing a new vision of dance in Africa. Thus, during this edition, young emerging artists will cross paths with others who are already well known.

Producing the biennial in South Africa also means paying tribute to South African dance, to its vitality and great diversity. Here, in particular, artists have succeeded in innovating, engaging,  defending their ideas and introducing new aesthetic challenges, often in difficult conditions. There are thus many reasons to discover this Danse l’Afrique danse ! biennial with enthusiasm and  curiosity.
